Biscuits

Biscuits

Makes 12+  biscuits

Experimenting with a Barefoot Contessa recipe, using what I have and making a bigger batch.

3  C flour

4 1/2  tsp  baking powder

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp sugar

1 1/2 sticks cold butter, cut into pieces

1 C milk

2-3  T heavy cream

Optional:  a few T  of freeze-dried chives or parsley; or a few pinches of dried thyme if serving with chicken- think of what you are serving these with

1 egg mixed with 1 T water, for egg wash

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Line sheet pan with parchment paper.

Combine dry ingredients; cut in butter.  Add milk and cream, and parsley if using.

Knead quickly and pat out into a rectangle about 3/4 inch thick.  Cut into squares, or cut into biscuits with a 2 1/2 inch round cutter.

Place biscuits onto pan.   Brush with the egg wash.

Bake for 20-22 minutes.

Serve warm.  YUM.

Really great with honey, served with Meatball Vegetable Bake for a "throw back" meal from my childhood.
